Did you ever wake up one morning, look
at yourself in the mirror and think you were
in front of those in a funhouse. You know
the one I mean – it makes you look huge!
Well, you are not alone. With the majority
of women over the age of forty, this does indeed
happen. What you see is what is called
the menopot. A term so aptly named by Dr.
Pamela Peeke, M.D. in her book Fighting
Fat over Forty. It’s that lovely fat that goes
right around our midsection.
Do we blame ourselves for letting this
happen or do we just question, “Why me?”
How did this happen?” Here are a few facts
to keep it in perspective. As women, we have
many challenges in our lives. As if being
wife, mother, and caregiver were not
enough, we decide to take on careers and
become superwomen. This leads to a lot of
extra stress which, in turn, wreaks havoc on
our bodies. If that weren’t enough there’s
the big “M” word and I don’t mean McDonald’s?
I mean MENOPAUSE.
